Metro Manila
|
Manila, the Philippine capital, is the political, social, cultural, religious, educational, industrial, and commercial center of the country. Its population of 11 million hardly compares to the next largest city, Davao (I million). Manila's streets pulsate with life at all hours. It's a city of contrasts: the difference between spacious, wellmaintained elite communities like Forbes Park and overcrowded slum areas like Tondo is immense. As in any major city, sightseeing and shopping are the main tourist activities during the day. Manila's nightlife offers the full spectrum from bawdy to sophisticated. The restaurants, live music, and cultural events provide evenings of pleasure.
